A non-profit based in Accra, Ghana

It takes a village...

A non-profit empowering the youth in Ghana through digital literacy and cybersecurity education.

Who we are

The Luxe Foundation

Luxe-Sam Foundation, also known as Luxe Foundation is a philanthropic organization dedicated to providing the youth, especially girls, in Ghana with the tools, resources and opportunities they need to realize their full potential and purpose. We aim to diversify the cybersecurity talent pipeline by empowering, mentoring, educating and providing career guidance and opportunities for young learners, especially girls.

Through a range of holistic support, we identify and amplify the youth, especially girls, with big dreams, fostering a new generation of confident, educated and empowered African visionaries.

The challenge

What is the gender divide?

The gender divide refers to disparities in access to resources and opportunities that are influenced by uncontrollable factors such as socio-economic status, nationality, race or gender. These systemic inequities can create significant barriers to success, making it challenging for individuals, especially young girls, to compete on a level playing field.

Why we exist

Our Mission

Through education, mentorship and a range of holistic support, we aim to close the opportunity gap and transform the trajectory of young lives on the cusp of adulthood. Our mission is to create a pipeline of young Africans, especially girls, poised to lead with purpose, sparking a ripple effect of positive change within their communities and beyond.

We are deeply invested in creating a future where a person's gender or birthplace does not dictate their impact.

Our Vision

A wider talent pipeline

Our aim is to diversify the cybersecurity talent pipeline by empowering, mentoring and providing career guidance and opportunities for the youth, especially girls, in underserved communities.

About

Our Story

In traditional Ghanaian communities, raising a child is a collective endeavor, guided by a network of elders and community members. Similarly, the Akan word "Nkabom" embodies the concept of shared responsibility and uplifting one's neighbor. At Luxe Foundation, we embrace this ethos, recognizing our duty and shared responsibility to nurture promising young minds.

Founded by Naana Baaba Sampson, the foundation was born out of a desire to break down barriers and create pathways to success for young women, ensuring that no dream goes unrealised due to circumstances beyond  their control. Growing up in Ghana, our founder witnessed many bright young girls fail to grow into successful women due to socioeconomic and cultural barriers. In a series of fortunate events, our founder graduated top of her class and as Valedictorian during her Master's degree in Digital Forensics and Cyber Security, which has opened so many doors, and made it possible for her to achieve her dream of helping the younger generation.

"Luxe Foundation aims to be the catalyst for a series of fortunate events for a new generation of young girls today."

The foundation provides the youth, especially girls in Ghana with the tools, resources and opportunities they need to realize their dreams. Our approach prioritizes holistic support, paying keen attention to the overall wellbeing of our beneficiaries. We recognise that educating women not only transforms individual lives but also has far-reaching benefits for entire communities, including improved mental health, increased economic opportunity and enhanced societal relationships.

While our journey begins in Ghana, this is the first step towards our broader mission of broadening access to resources for youth across Africa and beyond. We envision a world where young people everywhere have the freedom to succeed in whichever path they choose.

Projects

Our Approach

The Luxe Scholars Program is an application-based initiative for young women in underserved communities across Ghana. While we believe in providing pathways to global opportunities, we are mindful of the brain drain facing our continent. Therefore, we employ homegrown strategies to nurture talent locally and set our communities up for a bright future.

In collaboration with school staff, local educators and professionals across the technology and cybersecurity sectors, we annually select a cohort of promising young women to become Luxe Scholars, equipping them with the skills, mentorship and confidence to lead in the digital age.

Naana Baaba Sampson

Founder

Naana Baaba Sampson is a cybersecurity professional and the founder of Luxe-Sam Travel and Tours Ltd, popularly known as Luxe Travels, a travel agency based in Accra. She is an unwavering advocate for dismantling the barriers that perpetuate inequality among youth globally.

Born and raised in Ghana, Baaba is an alumna of Wesley Girls' High School. She continued her studies at the University of Ghana, earning her Bachelor's degree, before completing her Master's in Digital Forensics and Cyber Security at GIMPA, where she graduated as Valedictorian and Best Graduate Student at the School of Technology and Social Sciences. In school, she served as President of the Diversity and Inclusion Association, a group dedicated to supporting and empowering the few women in her cohort. The experience deepened her commitment to bridging the gender gap in technology and advocating for holistic support for young women's education, especially in information technology.

Having many women mentees, she firmly believes in paying it forward. Over the past few years, Baaba has partnered with several organizations and individuals to offer financial support and mentorship for girls' education in cybersecurity.

Her ethos, "The best way to find oneself is to lose oneself in the service of others," continues to drive her personal and professional life. She remains deeply committed to creating a world where young women not only survive but thrive, shine and inspire others to do the same.
